Trading desks,
run inside the limits.

Quantaris Capital is a proprietary trading firm. Capital is allocated to books, every order passes through our own risk engine before it reaches a venue, and an independent watchdog enforces the limits whether or not anyone is watching. FX, metals, indices, crypto and US equities — one desk, one set of rules.

01Approach

Risk management
is the product.

The platform was built around three rules before the first order was sent. They are enforced in code — by the gateway, by a watchdog that runs on its own, and by the database itself — not by a policy document.

01

A book holds the risk, not a person

Capital and limits attach to a book. One trader runs it; a trader may run several. Books roll up to the desk and the desk to the firm, and a child limit never exceeds its parent. If the trader changes, the book keeps its positions, history and limits.

limit(book) ≤ limit(desk) ≤ limit(firm)
02

Every order is checked before it leaves

Seventeen pre-trade checks run synchronously on every ticket — mandate, allocation, order size, concentration, daily-loss headroom, price collar, restricted list, margin, protective legs, event window, live price feed, and the trader's level rules. A rejection is itself an event in the ledger.

17 checks · every order · rejection logged
03

Stopping takes one person. Loosening takes two.

Any one of the CEO, CIO or CRO can halt a book or the whole desk alone; the moment for a kill switch is not the moment to look for a second signature. Raising an allocation or a limit is maker–checker: a request, a second approver, an effective date. Every signature lands in a hash-chained audit log.

halt: 1 signature · raise: 2 signatures
02Markets

Four markets.
One risk engine.

A book's markets, execution and venue are decided when it is opened and never change. Every venue sits behind the same adapter contract, so the checks, the ledger and the watchdog are identical whichever market a book trades.

03Risk

Limits that act, and a person who decides.

Every book carries the same ladder. A separate watchdog process rebuilds the ledger on its own, evaluates every limit itself and acts even if the trading screens or the API are down. It can block, set a book reduce-only or halt it — but it never closes a position by itself.

A flatten request is a question, not an order.

At 110% of a loss limit the watchdog cancels the book's working orders, sets it reduce-only, and asks one C-level officer to decide. They can keep the book open and reduce-only, raise its allocation or limit through an approval, or resume it once it is back under its limits. Resuming while still past the line means the watchdog asks again.

A capital change is never P&L: approving an allocation moves equity, the day's opening equity and the high-water mark together, so a cut never reads as a loss or a drawdown.

Pre-trade, on every ticket
  • Mandate — asset class, venue, long/short, leverage
  • Allocation and venue margin
  • Max order notional and position limit
  • Price collar and restricted list
  • Liquidity as a share of ADV
  • Daily-loss headroom
  • Duplicate and rate limits
  • Protective legs on the right side of the price
  • Economic-event window
  • Live price feed from the venue
  • Trader-level rules — first size, entry gap, positions per symbol

Thresholds shown are the platform defaults; a book's limits and ladder are set through maker–checker approval and recorded with the approval that created them. Every state change, breach and decision is written to an append-only, hash-chained audit log.

LevelsPROSPECT → DIAMOND

Demo first, then real money

Prospect · Silver · Gold · Platinum · Diamond

Everyone starts at Prospect, trading the simulator and demo accounts only — a live book is read-only until a level that trades real money is earned. Silver is the floor: nobody who has traded real money drops back to demo.

5 levels · configurable up to 8
RulesPER LEVEL · PER MARKET

How a position may be built

Set per level and, where markets differ, per asset class

Each level carries its own rules: how large a first entry may be, how far price must move before adding to a position, and how many positions one symbol may hold. Juniors may average down — with a wider gap. Promotion is on performance, judged only on books of the level's kind.

Profit shareMONTHLY · WATER MARK

Paid on profit that is real

A share of chargeable profit, by level

Profit is measured on conservative equity — floating losses count, floating gains do not — above the book's water mark. A loss is carried forward and recovered before anything is charged. Each level has its own share; statements are produced per trader and per book every month.

Losses carried · nothing charged twice

Traders never hold venue credentials and never see a venue key. The order gateway is the only process that talks to a venue; a trader's sign-in is a password plus a second factor — an authenticator code or a passkey.

05Firm

Small desk, serious plumbing.

Quantaris Capital was started in 2023 by the team behind W3 Eden. The firm is deliberately small; the infrastructure underneath it is not. Everything a person can do on the desk is logged once and never edited.

Proprietary capital

Structure

One desk · one trader per book

The firm trades its own capital. Traders run books under a mandate and are paid a share of the profit they make, by level. The platform is built so that a book can be funded by a single outside investor later — month-end dealing, one investor per book — without changing how it is run.

Built in-house

Platform

Order gateway · ledger · watchdog

The trading platform is our own, written for this desk: an order gateway that is the only process holding venue keys, an append-only ledger that rebuilds every position and P&L figure by replaying its events, and a watchdog that enforces limits on its own.

Operations

UTC day · five reports · Telegram alerts

The trading day rolls at 00:00 UTC. Daily desk, book-month, trader, profit-sharing and risk-and-limits reports come straight from the ledger, on screen, as CSV and as PDF. Breaches, interventions and flatten requests reach the officers as alerts the moment they happen.
